A section of churches in Nandi that have followed the Ministry of Health’s directives on phased re-opening of worship centers have managed to resume their operations under stringent guidelines to tackle the spread of the Coronavirus. Several Seventh Day Adventist churches in Nandi opened their doors for the first time since their closure prompted by the Coronavirus, a move which was received positively by adherents, who revealed that they have been waiting for the gradual re-opening and God has answered their prayers.
The Covid-19 guidelines for the reopening of places of worship as per the Ministry of Health include among others the availability of sufficient water points for hand washing, not more than 100 faithful attending a worship session which should not be more than one hour long, keeping a physical distance of 1.5 metres, wearing of masks, body temperature checks.
Some of the faithful who spoke to West FM after the one hour service said they are proud to be back to church and they strictly adhered to the health protocols. However, some churches and mosques across the country have opted to continue online services due to the difficulty posed by the directives, most notably limiting services to 100 people.
