Anxiety has gripped Lumama village in Lugari Sub County with a section of residents nursing injuries after being attacked and bitten by a mysterious cat.
According to Mrs. Jemima Lawi the brownish cat dashed into her house, went straight and hid under her bed before it turned against her.
“We were seated with my husband outside our house at around 10am when the cat came running into the house and went straight under our bed and when I tried to chase it from the house, it turned wild, jumped on me biting one of my fingers and ran away,” said Mrs. Lawi.
The cat then entered Mrs. Gladys Sangolo’s compound where it attacked her four year old grandson leaving him with serious injuries on the face and hands.
“I heard my grandson crying loudly when I rushed to see what had befallen him, I was shocked to find the cat that had attacked him leaving him with serious injuries on the face and hands,” said Mrs. Sangolo.
Janet Onzere said her family was lucky after the cat entered her house late in the evening but left without harming anyone.
“The frightening creature almost attacked my neighbor while bathing at around 7pm, she poured water on it before it ran and entered my house but my family and I were lucky, no one was hurt by it,” said Mrs. Onzere.
Mr. Justus Omenda and the area village elder Jane Inyange said the incident was shocking and the first one to be witnessed in the area.
“For over 60 years since we moved here in Lugari we have never witnessed or heard of a cat attacking people, this is the first incident and we don’t know if it is really a cat or demons in the form of a cat,” they said adding that there several other residents who had been left with injuries.
