Several victims who suffered from injuries inflicted after the West Pilot landslides continue to receive treatment at the Kapenguria referral hospital.
According to the CEC Health West Pokot county Geoffrey Lipale, all the patients are in stable condition receiving treatment and that they received sixteen patients at the facility, two were treated and discharged and among those received were six children who lost their parents.
Lipale added that they had received nine bodies at the Kapenguria referral hospital mortuary by Sunday afternoon and by night more bodies would be collected.
The CEC for Health added that they have dispatched medicine to various dispensaries adding that they were able to treat several victims at the grass roots as follows; Tamkal dispensary 34 patients, Nyarkulian dispensary 38 victims, Sina dispensary 21 victims, Tamkal dispensary 38 victims.
He added that many locals and patients are traumatised and they have dispatched medics to the ground and the above dispensaries to offer counselling to the affected families.
Doctor Victor Mbandi said that all patients at the facility are in stable condition and one is going to undergo surgery and that they are working round the clock to ensure that everything is under control.
One victim who lost her two kids Leah Chepngeny from Parua village narrated how they tried to run away when disaster struck but they were unable.
