Residents of Mulaha village in Bungoma town have raised concerns over the sewage discharge which has been directed to the area from Bungoma prisons.
The residents complained of the bad odour from the sewage and the rising cases of malaria in the area as the sewage creates breeding places for mosquitoes.
Efforts by the residents and relevant bodies to reach out to the County government yield no fruit as the sewage water still remains stagnant in the area.
The residents have also urged NEMA to intervene into the matter as they fear the waste water effluents may contribute to the contamination of their domestic water which can present serious human health risks like typhoid and cholera.
