Investigative agencies must work together for the war on corruption to be successful. This is according to Shinyalu MP Justus Kizito, who has called out anti graft bodies for a lack of singularity of purpose in some cases. Speaking during an interview with West FM, the MP said the DCI, DPP, EACC should be able to build up solid cases, “Investigative agencies should partner to come up with solid cases,” he said.
He said parliament shouldn’t be left out, given the key role the three key Parliament committees-public accounts committee, public investments committee, special accounts committee-play, adding that the auditor general’s regular involvement in public funds cases is also key. He said not working together leaves gaps and loopholes and this means some graft culprits aren’t served with justice when it matters most.
He noted that there is political goodwill to fight corruption, especially after the handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga.
