An elderly woman from Lunyito village in Lugari sub county escaped the wrath of angry residents who were baying for her blood after her husband raised an alarm after witchcraft paraphernalia and other items hidden in his house.
According to Mr. Isaac Nyongesa Sindani he has lived with his second Margaret Nawire for more than twenty years without knowing she was engaging in witchcraft.
He said in the recent past they have been engaging in endless feuds forcing him to spend most of his time with the first wife but whenever he went back to the second wife she ran away only to return when he has left.
However, he said he became suspicious when he went to the house and she fled, making him to do a thorough search of the house before he stumbled on the paraphernalia.
He said he said there were several cartons kept in the dark corner of the house and upon checking inside he was shocked to discover witchcraft tools and several items belonging to the locals tied with herbs and dusted with ash which he believes had been bewitched.
Nyongesa raised an alarm, attracting hundreds of residents who thronged the compound and some of them were shocked to find their items that disappeared several years ago.
Among the items included blankets, women underpants, children wares, hair, text and exercise books, foodstuffs, condoms among others.
Nyongesa said he was shocked to find his coat and tie that disappeared five years ago among the items. “This woman has even bewitched me and my children. My brother died five years ago and after his burial I took one of his coats and a tie which I just used for few weeks then they went missing, I looked for them, unsuccessfully, till I gave up but today I am shocked to find them here tied with herbs,” said Nyongesa.
He added that his son bought some material in preparation to build his house and gave the mother some nails to keep for him but when he was ready to put up the house the mother claimed that the nails had disappeared from where she had kept them. Shockingly, the nails and blankets belonging to his daughter and grandchildren were among items.
