Sigor Member of Parliament Peter Lochakapong has raised concern over home learning for students who reside in marginalized areas. The MP has cited the lack of electricity, TVs, and poor internet connectivity as factors that have hampered online learning as the Covid-19 pandemic rages on, “Class eight and Form Four candidates are having a rough time at home preparing for the final exams,” he said.
Speaking in Kapenguria, Lochakapong cast doubts on the integrity of the national exams, if candidates solely relied on online learning material. The MP who urges residents to observe the Health Ministry’s directives on combating the Coronavirus said the government’s stance on online learning is ill advised.
He said the prolonged schools closure may have a negative impact on students’ education. “Prolonged school closures has become very costly for learners in remote areas,” he said.
