As the government continues laying strategies for the full reopening of schools, Sipande primary school in Lugari Sub County is in dire need of help after the school’s toilets collapsed.
According to the head teacher Mrs. Frida Okwomi all toilets used by girls and teachers have collapsed and can no longer be used.
She said teachers who are currently going on with preparations for reopening of schools have been forced to use the only available boys’ toilets.
The head teacher said the situation might worsen when the school resumes classes since it will be a health risk for the entire population to rely on the available sanitation facilities at the institution.
Mrs. Okwomi has called upon the national and Kakamega County government, local leaders and any other well-wisher to urgently come to the aid of the institution before learning resumes.
“If quick action is not taken, the school might be closed immediately after reopening for failing to meet the public health requirements,” said the head teacher.
