John Wafula Murutu is the new assistant chief for Sitikho sub location in Sitikho location Webuye Sub County Bungoma County.
Murutu was officially declared the assistant chief on Wednesday, 26th May 2016 at Khalala market by the Chief for Sitikho Location Julius Wafula Masibo.
Addressing residents for Sitikho Sub- location, Murutu urged them to be co-operative and adhere with the rules as per the Kenyan constitution for that will make his work easy.
“I would like you to be co-operative and strictly follow the rules of the Kenyan constitution so that you are never caught in any predicament and through this I will not be faced with difficulties when serving you,” stated Murutu
He advised the residents to avoid idleness and drunkenness that may lead them make crimes that will lead them into problems contrary with the law.
“Don’t just idle around and involve yourselves in drinking alcohol, when idle you may end up doing crimes that might cost your life therefore I urge you to involve yourself in activities that are resourceful and spent your time well thus avoiding troubles,” he said.
Murutu went ahead urging residents to prioritize education and farming for it is only through this that poverty can be eradicated in the region.
“I would like you to take your children to school because they are our future leaders, make sure that your children are in school and give them a conducive environment for learning when there by providing their requirements, for any region to prosper; education should be prioritized therefore never take education for granted,” he reiterated
Murutu was declared a winner in the contest that was between nine candidates who vied for that seat through an interview that was conducted in early February 2016.
Assistant chief’s seat for Sitikho sub location was vacant after Ben Sanya Murunga who was the assistant chief retired in July 2015.
