Six wards in Busia County have procured utility vehicles through Ward Development projects in a bid to move services closer to the people.
The Wards that have purchased the Toyota Hilux single cabin vehicles include Angurai South, Malaba Central, Malaba North, Bukhayo East and Amukura East in that order.
They join Nangina, Amukura Central and Chakol North wards which were the first to purchase the vehicles.
Angurai South MCA Grace Tata said she prioritized the purchase of a utility vehicle to help residents who incur problems that require transport and sports activities that may require teams to travel long distances.
‘’I now feel relieved in terms of digging into the pocket to address challenges facing residents including women and groups in my ward,’’ she said.
Her sentiments were echoed by her Malaba Central and Malaba North counterparts Benard Papa and Patrick Omanyala respectively.
‘’The aim is to move services closer to the people to enable them feel part and parcel of the county government.’’ They said adding that hiring of the vehicles was the order of the day before this development.
