In a move to ensure accountability and transparency, the Board of the Social Health Authority (SHA) has announced that Acting CEO Elijah Wachira has been placed on a 90-day compulsory leave, effective immediately. This decision comes as part of a broader inquiry into Wachira’s professional conduct and performance during his tenure in the leadership role.
The SHA Board, in a letter addressed to Wachira on Tuesday, cited the necessity of a thorough investigation to assess the CEO’s actions, which they believe warrants further scrutiny. The inquiry will focus on various aspects of Wachira’s management and leadership during his time at the helm of the Authority.
In the wake of this decision, the SHA Board has appointed Robert Ingasira as the new Acting CEO. Ingasira, who has been with the Authority in the role of Acting Director of Financial Services, will take over the position immediately. Ingasira brings with him a wealth of experience in financial management and organizational leadership, having played a key role in overseeing the SHA’s financial operations and strategic initiatives.
The letter informing Wachira of his leave was signed by SHA Chairperson, Dr. Abdi Mohamed, who emphasized the importance of maintaining high standards of governance and the need for a comprehensive review of the situation.
Robert Ingasira will assume full responsibility for the Authority’s operations and will oversee the continuation of all ongoing projects and initiatives.
