A somber mood enveloped Vilaha village, Mbagara sub location in Lugari Sub County after a 65 year old man was stabbed to death by his step son.
Confirming the incident area assistant chief Pamela Kulali, said the man Dismas Wafula met his death at about 5:30pm on Sunday after picking a quarrel with his 19 year old step son identified as Simon Mona.
Accord Mrs. Kulali, the deceased had abandoned his family and embarked on living with his inherited wife Mrs. Night Nang’ondo at her matrimonial home a move that displeased Mrs. Nang’ondo’s son.
“The old man arrived at Mrs. Nang’ondos home around 5:30 in the evening before he picked up a quarrel with the step son, which ended in a fight. Mrs. Nang’ondo who was at home tried to separate the two but her efforts were in vain,” said Mrs. Kulali who added the boy rushed to the kitchen where he picked a knife and stabbed the step father to death.
Both mother and son have since disappeared.
The local administrator has, however, assured members of public that security officers have launched investigations into the incident.
“We are appealing to any member of the public with information that could lead to arrest of the two to voluntarily share with security agencies,” appealed the assistant chief.
Police officers at Lumakanda station transferred remains of the deceased to Chebaiywa Hospital mortuary in the neighbouring Uasin Gishu County.
