The decision comes at a time when the firm is facing licensing and pay bill suspension problems, and the management has said as a business, Sportpesa has been subjected to punitive measures by regulators, including delayed license renewal and suspension of pay bill numbers. “This has brought about immense pressure on the business necessiating a re-evaluation of some plans,” read a statement from the firm.
The firm has said it has always been compliant with all statutory and regulatory requirements, “We greatly value our partnerships and we will endeavour to resume support to the best of our ability when the business recovers.” The betting firm has spread its influence in the sports field countrywide, spanning different games like football and boxing, with AFC Leopards and Gor Mahia among the top of the pile in sponsorships.
