Property worth millions of shillings was destroyed Monday morning after a fierce inferno razed down a dormitory at St. Luke’s Boys High School in Lugari Sub County.
Confirming the incident Lugari Sub County Police Commander Patrick Maundu said the inferno sparked off a few minutes past 5.00am when students were in class for morning studies.
He said the security guard on duty noticed smoke coming out through the windows before he raised an alarm attracting teachers and students who responded quickly and managed to put out the fire in one of the dormitory while a second dormitory which was completely engulfed in fire burnt down.
The police commander said nobody was injured in the Monday morning incident.
According to the school Principal Mr. Livingston Ong’era the destroyed dormitory was being used by 65 students among them 18 form ones, 16 form twos, 14 form threes and 17 form fours.
