The Kenya Union of Clinical officers (KUCO) is mourning the death of a clinical officer (CO) based in Nandi, who succumbed to Covid-19. In a letter, KUCO revealed that Victor Tiony is among nine clinical officers who’ve succumbed to the virus while in the line of duty and the government should act swiftly to guarantee the safety of workers.
Tiony, who was a resident of Kapkagaon village in Kilibwoni ward, Emgwen constituency, Nandi County, was a clinical officer at Kapkangani health care center. He is survived by a wife and two children. The union has expressed great concern, given that the late Tiony gave a lot for his tireless efforts, who’ll be remembered as a hero who died in the line of duty. KUCO has appealed to well wishers and leaders to assist the deceased family to offset of the huge hospital bill of about Kshs 2 million. Moreover, they have appealed to the government to consider compensating families of all the health workers who’ve lost their lives in the line of duty due to Covid-19.
