The Ministry of Health has warned of a deadliest third wave of the covid-19 pandemic if kenyans do not play by the regulations put in place by the ministry. This is after the numbers that portrayed yesterday where 173 new cases were reported from a sample of 3,784 tested in 24hours. On the same day, 186 patients had recovered with twenty-three discharged from hospital while 163 recovered from home hence 84,728 total recoveries so far. The total number of fatalities stands at 1,791 after two more patients died yesterday.
The Health CS, Mutahi Kagwe went ahead to state that the country is still at a manageable state since we still got our masks on. He also went ahead to say the new South Africa, Brazil and UK covid-19 variants might spike another global wave if not well managed.
“We are still at a rate that is manageable but the only reason why this is happening is that you have your mask on so we need to realize that you are your point of weakness when you think that everything is now gone,” the CS said.
“If you go back to 1918 to the Spanish influenza the first was not so bad, the second wave was also just slightly worse but the third wave is the one that came with devastating consequences and therefore we have to stay alert,” Kagwe added.
CS Kagwe went ahead to tell Kenyans to listen to advice given by the ministry and health experts in order to control and manage the pandemic.
“Let us stay on course. Let us listen to the advice that is given by our health experts so that nothing changes out of the ordinary. So I beg of you to just hang on in there for a little while and hopefully, we can get out of it safely and without the kind of impact that it has had elsewhere.”
