Wanyama Musiambo, the Deputy Head of Public Service has issued a rallying call to politicians to stop politicizing the Boda boda registration exercise currently ongoing in the whole country.
Musiambo who was speaking in Vihiga County to officially launch the exercise says the whole process is to benefit people who heavily depend on this noble transport sector that has employed millions of Kenyans.
Musiambo says the exercise will help the relevant sources to be able to control how the operations in this sector are being conducted and even stop few elements who may want to run away with this sector.
“We just can’t allow any Tom, Dick and Harry to take over and run this very important sector in a way that is against the law,” says Musiambo.
He alluded the importance of the sector in the growth of the economy of the country.
“One should first imagine the revenue the government gets from the sale of this motorcycles and the fuel they consume on a daily basis,” added Musiambo.
Franklin Mucheli the coordinator Boda boda sector in Vihiga said that they had already put in place a similar exercise where they were issuing plates to all the 15000 riders registered in their Vihiga county Boda boda sector.
“We want to thank the government for this idea and assure the government that Vihiga will top the numbers of registered riders as it’s already existent in this county,” said Mucheli.
