Vihiga Governor Wilber Ottichilo has said the County Assembly is going to pass a bill that will enable heroes in the County honoured.
Speaking during the Mashujaa Day celebration that was held at Kidundu grounds in Vihiga Sub County, he said some streets in Mbale town will be named after heroes and heroines in the County.
The County boss urged the County Assembly to fast track the bill to enable the County Government to set aside funds to aid the elderly heroes in the region.
“We know that the heroes and heroines in the County are facing difficult times in their elderly lives, and am urging the County Assembly to work on the bill so that they can get financial help,” he said.
During the function, Dorcas Ondiso was honoured with a medal for the exemplary community work she has done in Vihiga County.
She hails from Emuhaya Sub County where she helps her fellow widowers educate their children.
“I always organise fundraisers to get funds to pay school fees to those kids, and i thank the government for recognising my efforts and service to the community,” she reiterated.
Ondiso noted that she is not going to tire in providing for the needy in the community.
