The Supreme Court has upheld the recommendations from the tribunal panel that recommended the removal of Justice Said Juma Chitembwe from office over allegations of gross misconduct.
In its decision published this Thursday, December 28, the Supreme Court, with determination from Judges Mohamed Ibrahim, Smokin Wanjala, Njoki Ndungu, Isaac Lenaola, and William Ouko, found that the tribunal had proof in the entire six allegations leveled against Justice Chitembwe.
Chitembwe faced six accusations, among them: lack of impartiality, integrity matters, corruption, lack of accountability, and lack of professional ethics as a judge.
The tribunal that recommended his removal was formed by retired President Uhuru Kenyatta and was chaired by Justice Mumbi Ngugi.
Justice Said Chitembwe’s downfall began after former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko linked him to a bribery scheme.
