More than 10,000 residents of Angurai South Ward in Teso North Sub County, Busia County will benefit from the Akibui water project once the on-going profile survey to extend the distribution lines comes to an end. The Busia County government has joined hands with World Vision to cushion the residents against acute water shortage problems.
The Chief officer for Water, Irrigation and Natural Resources Moses Weunda commissioned the survey on Wednesday in Angurai.
The survey headed by the County Irrigation expert William Keino will come up with designs for the distribution line of the project and construction of 75 cubic metres of elevated storage tank.
Mr. Weunda said phase one of the project was completed with 5.2 km pipe extension from the borehole that yields 16 cubic metres of water per hour. Schools that have benefited from the water project include Oburi Kode, Kaeset and Kangelemuge primary schools.
