A murder suspect who brutally murdered a university student, Emma
Wanyotta, at Moi’s Bridge was arraigned on Monday at a Kitale court. The suspect murdered the student on 2nd October using a crude weapon, leading to demos by residents who wanted to pounce on the suspect before he was whisked away by police officers.
The suspect, Mustafa Idd, who once worked as a carpenter at a warehouse
in Kitale town was presented before the High Court judge Hillary
Chemutai under heavy security. He was not allowed to take a plea due to the absence of his advocate who was not in the court to represent him.
The suspect is facing a similar murder case at Eldoret High Court, accused of murdering Nancy Narogoi in 2017 and was released on bond before murdering Emma Wanyotta. The prosecution wanted the earlier granted bond retrieved , claiming he had gone against the bond terms, and that he wasn’t supposed to enjoy privileges after murdering another victim.
Judge Chemutei pledged to give his verdict whether the earlier bond will be withdrawn on 25th this month when the suspect will be brought back to the Court again.
