Three suspected kidnappers have been lynched by locals at Chepkobegh Sub location Kipkomo Sub County West Pokot County.
According to Chepkobegh Sub location area Chief Peter Loriwo, the three boarding a motorcycle wanted to abduct a child at Samor area but unfortunately the father to the kid ambushed them before they bungled the baby to their motorbike.
He said the three unidentified people were chased by locals until when they got exhausted and surrendered.
“The locals were baying for their blood, they could not ride on the hills using their motorbikes that was when the locals got hold of them and lynched them.” He said.
He said according to the locals, the three confessed to be serial abductors, that was what made locals to completely wipe them out.
According to the father of the kidnapped child John Napareng, he said at around noon he was at his farm herding cattle then he heard his children screaming which prompted him to rush at home and see what was going on.
“When I arrived I found some of babies locked inside the kitchen while one of babies was being held tightly and his mouth sealed with a cellar tape. The criminals wanted to run away with him” He said.
He added that the three were armed with a knife and threatened to stab him but fortunately he had a panga and also threatened to cut them but they chased him away after throwing stones on him while trying to force the child to board the motorcycle.
He said the community members were alerted and calls were made to surrounding the kidnappers who were escaping using the motorcycle but they were trailed by the community members until when they were caught and killed.
“My children were to be abducted if I was not at home, they were timing to kidnap one of my baby but fortunately I responded promptly and fought them.” He said.
Kipkomo Sub County Deputy County Commissioner, Teresia Muguro said unknown three male adults armed with a knife allegedly abducted a child at Samor area of Morpus Sub location at around 3pm on Friday.
She added that the mother of the children raised alarm and the suspects fled on motorbike and left the child.
“Angry residents followed them to Chepkopegh, attacked and killed them. One suspect is said to have come from Endebess.”She said.
