A cross section of Tachoni clan elders from the Counties of Bungoma, Busia, Kakamega and Trans Nzoia have asserted their support to Mzee Wasilwa Se Wekesa saying they still recognise him as their chairman. Led by Wanyonyi Nakitare, the elders said Se Wekesa has steered the council well since 2012 and has had tremendous successful projects including translating of the Bible in Tachoni language.
Nakitare said it is unfortunate that Patrick Sitati whom who was installed as chairman does not fully understand the culture saying he has no capacity to lead them. He added that as Tachonis in the said Counties, they are focused on uniting and that political inclinations should not be a parameter to divide them. His sentiments were echoed by Peter Mulati who said the office bearers were duly elected in office and their term will come to an end in 2022 saying those who wish to take up any position will have an opportunity then. Se Wekesa extended an olive branch to the other faction saying they are welcome back to work with them.
