Election is very important as it concerns the life of people and shapes the economy of a country and her people.
Due to that the Tachoni Cultural Society mostly known as TACUSO has announced the postponement of circumcision this year which happens every August of even year from first of August to begin on the tenth day of August so as to allow residents participate fully in the important exercise of voting which they said as a country the exercise should not be interfered with and appealed to their people to adhere to the set dates.
Addressing the media after having a council meeting that saw the election of members of the council, the TACUSO chairperson Mr. Patrick Sitati Lichuma said they reached the agreement after a lengthy consultation meeting with representatives of thirsty six clans that make up TACUSO where they agreed that such an important national exercise should be given priority.
He asked Kenyans to maintain peace before, during and after elections adding that peace is key in development and appealed to youths especially from Tachoni community not to be used by politicians for their own selfish gains but rather scrutinize every politician and have a choice of one that will steer development of the community to the next level.
The TACUSO leadership however denied having a preferred candidate in any elective post but have allowed Kenyans specifically from Webuye East in Bungoma County and Lugari constituency in Kakamega County and other parts of the country to elect leaders of their choice and as a council they will not meddle in any political business as all who are vying are their sons and daughters and therefore having a preferred candidate will be going against their mandate.
“We don’t have a preferred candidate in either Webuye East or any other part of the country where our sons and daughters have shown the interest of seeking elective posts, we leave to the electorates to make an informed opinion after scrutinizing all the candidates, we don’t want to leave our people divided but united, ” said Mzee Murumba.
They also added that they will always work with the government of the day so as to realize development.
They affirmed that they are the recognized Tachoni council of elders and any other leadership is repugnant as they promised to champion for the rights and development agenda on behalf of the community and insisted that they recognize Mr. Patrick Sitati Lichuma as their bona fide leader and kingpin and any Tachoni community communication should be made through him.
