Nandi Governor Stephen Sang has said his government is in talks with the National Museums of Kenya in a bid to have a joint signing of an MoU to support the Koitalel Samoei Mausoleum in Nandi hills.
Speaking during the 114th commemoration of the legend at Nandi hills Bears club, Governor Sang said that the negotiations for the support are underway and there is hope a deal will be agreed.
The Governor added that the bid also aims at returning Nandi artifacts which were taken by the colonial government during the colonial period including the Koitalel Samoei’s skull.
The artifacts also include shields, spears, ornaments, leadership batons, tools for branding animals, Sambut for leadership(for men made from animal skins) and Legetiet, the traditional leather belt for women among many other artifacts.
