Lugari MP Ayub Savula has disclosed that the long awaited tarmacking of the Turbo-River Nzoia road will commence before the end of this year.
Speaking in Lugari, Savula disclosed that the national government has allocated Kshs 300 million for the works.
The legislator said once complete the road will open up the area to development through improved communication.
The MP further disclosed that the Lugari National Government Constituency Development Fund Committee has allocated Kshs 10 million for construction of a modern crossing across Kipkaren River linking Lugari and Chekalini wards.
Savula regretted challenges faced by residents from the two wards to cross the river with several people believed to have lost their lives attempting to cross over.
On education matters, Savula revealed that the NG-CDF Committee has allocated Kshs 4 million for the completion of a twin lab at the St. Paul’s Lugari boys secondary school in Lugari Ward.
He, however, lamented the declining student population despite the heavy investment from NG-CDF that is directed to the school adding that students who attend the school as day scholars from the community will have their school fees paid from the NG-CDF kitty as an incentive that will attract more students.
