A secondary school teacher has been arrested and arraigned in court after he allegedly raped his student on Tuesday night. The teacher at Madende secondary school in Nambale sub county, Geoffrey Osongo, is alleged to have lured the form four girl by lying to her that that her father was dead and volunteered to take her to their home on Tuesday evening only to take her into his house and defile her before taking her back to school.
The girl reported the mater to her principal who in turn called the police and arrested the teacher while invigilating KCSE exams at Canon Awori secondary school in Nambale.
The incident has been confirmed by Nambale sub county Deputy County Commissioner Mrs. Caroline Onchoka who added that the student was treated at Nambale sub county hospital and taken back to school to continue with her remaining KCSE papers, “The principal called the sub county education director and told her about the incident and we went their multi agency, the education officers and security team and confirmed it was true the girl had been raped, we took her to hospital and also arrested the teacher.”
The teacher was arraigned at Busia law court before principal magistrate Samson Temu and charged for intentionally and unlawfully having sex with the nineteen-year-old girl without her consent contrary to section 3a of the sexual offense Act where he denied the charge and released on a one-hundred-shilling cash bail. The case will be mentioned on 5th December and heard on 3rd March 2020.
