Teaching, non teaching staff and students at Friends School Kamusinga in Kimilili constituency, Bungoma County, are set to undergo mass testing after a Form 4 candidate tested positive for Covid-19. On Saturday, Bungoma Health CEC Dr. Anthony Walela confirmed that County government public health officers will carry out the tests.
The Form 4 student started exhibiting symptoms related to Coronavirus and after tests were done on his sample at KEMRI, the results came back positive. He was taken to Webuye Isolation Centre. “We have arranged to have all students, teachers, and the subordinate staff tested. Those who test positive will be quarantined at Webuye Isolation Centre,” said Walela.
The reopening of schools has been hampered by rising cases of Covid-19 countrywide, with some cases already reported in some schools. Teachers at two schools at the Coast, Star of the Sea and Tononoka Secondary, also tested positive for Covid-19, prompting the closure of the schools.
