Religious leaders in the country have called upon President William Ruto with Azimio leader Raila Odinga to have dialogue in order to find a long-lasting solution to challenges affecting the country without causing deaths and destruction.
Led by the chair of the Kenyan conference of Catholic Bishop Martin Kivuva, the leaders have urged Azimio leader Raila Odinga to seek alternative means to press opposition demands instead of protests which have caused deaths and destruction of property.
The leaders condemned insecurity cases, deaths and destruction of property witnessed during previous protests hence urged the two leaders to dialogue.
“There is nothing that cannot be solved through dialogue and its time that this two leaders should empress dialogue a move that will see the country be at peace and avoid more bloodshed,” they said
They have raised their concern on the high cost of living thus urging President William Ruto to intervene.
“Kenyans are at their toughest time of the economy especially for those with low income and there is a need for the President to relook in the financial act 2023 and ensure Kenyans are not overburdened through the tax and levies.”
The religious leaders have also used this opportunity to urge all Kenyans to join in prayers so as to have stability in the country.
“We urge all Kenyans irrespective of their doctrines to pray for unity, stability and peace for our country during this trying moment.” They added
