The first Bungoma East Member of Parliament Mark Barasa Katenya has passed on.
The mutilated body of Mzee Barasa was found dumped in his Ndalu farm in Tongaren Constituency on Wednesday 28th December, 2022
According to his family, the late disappeared on Friday 16th December, 2022 as he left heading to Chesamisi in Kimilili Constituency in his other home.
The family has frantically been searching for Mzee in the last 12 days until today when his body was discovered in his farm.
Mzee Katenya, 98 years old was born in Chesamisi among Batukwika Bakitang’a clan.
He started his education in 1935-1941 in Chesamisi primary school then joined Kaimosi school for his intermediate education
He once taught as an untrained teacher among other duties before joining politics.
He was the first Bungoma East MP comprising of now Webuye West, Webuye East, Kimilili and Tongaren Constituencies from 1963-1969, when election was conducted Elijah Mwangale took over from him.
Being a Quaker by faith he worked towards starting of Chesamisi Secondary school.
