The first ever Kenya Medical Training Institute Teso Campus has officially been commissioned at Kocholya area near Kocholya Hospital in Teso North Constituency Busia County.
The colourful event was presided over by the chairman, board of directors at the Kenya medical training institute Prof Philip Kaloki, Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong, area Member Of Parliament Dr. Oku Kaunya and a host of members of the county assembly.
In his address, Professor Kaloki praised Dr. Kaunya for spearheading the construction of the institution, terming the development a milestone.
‘’ This is job well done and I want to assure you, the people of Teso, that we are going to support the initiative to the letter.’’ He said
On his part, Governor Ojaamong promised to sponsor more development in the institution to ensure it meets its goals.
He also promised to ensure Kocholya hospital attains its goal of becoming a level five hospital.
Teso North MP Oku Kaunya promised to sponsor a total of 120 students using CDF funds during the much anticipated March intake.
‘I urge the local community to embrace this institution and bring their children in big numbers so as to motivate people from other places to do the same,’’ he quipped
A sum of 45 million CDF funds was spent during phase one of the construction.
The institution now brings the number of medical training institutes in Busia County to two.
