Renown professor and engineer the late Prof. Maurice Mang’oli, who succumbed to Covid-19 on Tuesday was laid to rest in Namuyemba, Bungoma County. The Friday funeral function was led by health officials under strict adherence to health guidelines. Security officers were on watch out from the onset to ensure those who attended the ceremony were within the required number as well as wore masks and kept social distance.
The late was eulogised as a hard working man who was hands on in every matter he attended to. Bungoma County Health CEC Dr. Anthony Walela said so far they have buried four people from the County who fell victim to the deadly disease and cautioned the residents against claims that the virus is a hoax, adding that it is very dangerous.
His sentiments were echoed by Bungoma County Senator Moses Wetangula who said residents must strictly adhere to the regulations to avoid infections. He cited the case of his brother who succumbed to the disease saying it is real and is no longer an overseas disease and that anyone can contract it. Bungoma woman representative Catherine Wambilianga said after the lifting of the cessation of movement, there will be an influx of people into the County and therefore the residents need to be very keen. Until his demise the late professor was a lecturer at the University of Nairobi.
