After highlighting the plight facing Nyinyira primary School in Nandi South, Nandi County Commissioner Harman Shambi visited the school and assessed the situation saying he has negotiated for talks with the Constituency Development Fund office, the county government of Nandi and different stakeholders to see how the institution can be reinstated.
Shambi cited that the school which has poor infrastructure is in dire need of modern structures and enough teachers as it has only three TSC teachers with a population of one hundred and forty one pupils from grade one to Standard Eight.
The Commissioner revealed that the structures in school are in bad state as they are semi permanent and are not conducive for a learning environment thus there is need to find ways of helping the school get modern classrooms and structures saying his office together with the government and different stakeholders together with well wishers are in talks to aid the pathetic situation.
He has asked the Teachers Service Commission to speed up the recruitment of more teachers to the school as there is shortage and pupils are suffering.
The school has limited number of desks which forces the institution to borrow chairs from the church but still they are not enough.
The Commissioner said his office in partnership with the Ministry of Education will conduct an audit on all the schools in Nandi to identify the schools facing the same challenges so as to be assisted and also to identify which are not registered.
According to a section of parents who spoke to media said the school has not received any assistance from the National Constituency Development Fund.
