The political rift in CORD party continues
The political battle and the rift in Cord party has taken a different dimension after a section of leaders drawn from the larger Western region have asked the Bungoma Senator and one of the Cord Co Principal Moses Masika Wetangula to quit the Coalition citing discrimination.
Led by Sikhendu County Assembly member Andrew Sichangi Kutitila, the leaders have called upon the Ford Kenya Party leader to renounce Cord, noting that its leaders have intimidated and discriminated upon him.
Kutitila accused Raila Odinga for using the Kakamega governor Wycliffe Oparanya and other ODM leaders to intimidate Senator Wetangula.
Speaking to the press, Kutitila stated that Raila Odinga has failed the Western people by using them for a long period of time to gain fame and power.

“The former premier has failed us, his trick is only to use Western leaders as a stepping stone to gain authority, we already know his tricks and will never play brave this time since he will never support one of us,” Said Kutitila adding that it is high time for Senator Wetangula to leave the Cord coalition for his own good.
He appealed to Wetangula to move with haste noting that the marriage between the three leaders has failed.
The legislator retaliated that Western people will not support Raila Odinga the coming polls accusing him for massive problems facing the region .
Kutitila’s sentiments comes barely a week after ODM Party leader who is also the Kakamega governor Wycliffe Oparanya asked Wetangula to bury his presidential bid in support of Raila Amolo Odinga, stating that Cord has already settled on Odinga as their presidential flag bearer
Oparanya rubbished of Wetangula’s aspiration to become the President barring him from launching his bid in Muliro gardens saying the launch is not welcomed since the flag bearer is known already
While Ford Kenya Party affiliated leaders are condemning the move to bar Wetangula to launch his bid, some leaders have supported Oparanya’s statement saying that Wetangula will never be supported by Cord.
“Launching his presidential bid in Kakamega shows that he is a regional leader, he should launch his bid in Nairobi to get the national picture,” said a political activists Stanley Livondo.
Livondo questioned why Wetangula wanted to launch his bid in Kakamega saying he should not bring Cord problems in Kakamega. He urged Wetangula to stay put in Bungoma and launch his bid there.
“This thing goes down in history, no one will support him, he should read the writings in the wall, we ask him to devoid from using Kakamega people especially the youth ,” added Livondo saying if he is popular then he should not be scared to use the resources in Bungoma County to launch is campaigns since one in Kakamega has ever encroached Bungoma.

Governor Oparanya’s sentiments have been echoed by Busia governor Sospeter Odeke Ojaamong who have asked Cord co principles Stephine Kalonzo and Moses Wetangula to bury their presidential aspirations and support Raila Odinga saying he is the one Cord is going to Support in the coming elections
Speaking in Busia, Ojaamong said Cord has already chosen Odinga to battle it out with President Uhuru in the coming polls and the two should not waste their time.
“Everyone knows that Odinga is the giant to wrestle with president Uhuru, let us please support his bid that is why it is advisable for the two to starting preparing their minds and throw their quest for presidency,” said Ojaamong .
Political analyst, Nandemu Barasa, stated crystal clear how the region has suffered from the likes of Raila Odinga, saying that CORD leader Raila Amolo Odinga will and has never backed up any aspirant from Western area.
He cited the days of former Deputy president Michael Kijana Wamalwa, when Odinga elusively declined supporting Wamalwa and rather chose to support former President Daniel Arap Moi.
“Who doesn’t know what happened during the elections conducted that year? Raila never supported Wamalwa so how will he support Wetangula this round? This is just a riddle, it will never happen,” he said
Nandemu said that Cord has already chosen Odinga and Wetangula should look for an alternative way, to either join Jubilee or race it solely to the end since neither Raila nor Kalonzo would support him at the end.
The vocal Nandemu pointed out that Western area has more headstrong and politically experienced leaders that Senator Wetangula should support quoting former deputy prime minister Musalia Mudavadi as the suitable person to contest as a president from the area .
“Anyone would tell you that Mudavadi is better off as compared to Raila, he has political support, and his plenty experience goes a long way in Kenya, people will come out in abudance to support him unlike Wetangula,” he added
As the rift widens in Cord, Senator Wetangula is set to lunch his presidential bid in Masinde Muliro gardens in Kakamega on second April
