Vibrant Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa has said the national assembly has the capacity to adopt the BBI proposals and Kenyans shouldn’t eh subjected to a referendum, noting that the process is unaffordable at the moment. Speaking in his constituency, Barasa said as a legislator he was tasked with such duties in parliament and called upon President Uhuru Kenyatta to consider having the report taken to Parliament, adding that they can ensure the key amendments are passed.
He added that at the moment the country is facing many challenges including the effects of the Coronavirus pandemic and a heavy debt burden, and that money mean for a referendum can be used for better projects.
He affirmed his commitment to continue funding more projects in schools saying providing a conducive environment for learning is his driving force. He said more projects are scheduled to start soon including the construction of a three storey building at Kamukuywa ACK primary school which he revealed will be a model school in the constituency. He was speaking after launching six classrooms funded by NGCDF at Misikhu main SDA primary school.
