The bodies of three men were found on Thursday morning dumped at Sebit area along the Kitale–Lodwar Highway in West Pokot County. The bodies were found at 6 am by residents.
A resident, Mr. Ian Wanyonyi, said they were shocked, “We woke up to a rude shock. We are still in fear because we don’t know what might be the cause of the deaths,” said Wanyonyi.
Confirming the incident, West Pokot Sub County police commandant Julius Kyambuli said they suspect the three were killed somewhere else and their bodies were dumped in the area. He said that they have not established the time when the bodies were discarded in the area.
Kyambuli urged members of the public to report any case of missing bodies from their family members. He added that the bodies had no visible injuries and there is no sign of any struggle at the scene where the bodies were lying just along the road.
Kyambuli noted that they have intensified patrols along the highway following the incident to help identify what might be happening. The bodies were moved to the mortuary, “The bodies still remain uncollected at the mortuary, and nobody has come out to record a statement of a missing person.”
He said that investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the death and that cases of bodies being dumped have increased in the area.
