Three people sustained serious injuries following an accident that involved a Nissan Matatu and a truck at Munialo along Webuye–Eldoret highway.

According to eyewitnesses, both vehicles were going up the hilly section of the road towards Eldoret when the accident occurred.

They said the Matatu driver who was over speeding lost control as he tried to overtake the truck before ramming into it from the back adding that he was drunk.

The truck driver, Mr. Stephen Muthemi, said he was on his way from West Kenya Sugar Company heading to Eldoret when the Matatu rammed into rear of his vehicle. “I was slowly going up this hilly section when I heard a loud bang from behind only to find it was a Matatu which had hit my vehicle from the back,” said Muthemi.

He said it was surprising how the Matatu drive rammed into him yet there’s a climbing lane at that section of the road.

Three people including the Matatu driver sustained serious injuries and were rescued by the residents and rushed to Webuye sub county hospital.
