The residents of Tinderet constituency in Nandi have decried the state of poor roads which are impassable especially during the heavy rainfall season, a situation which has paralyzed transport activities in the region. The residents cited the poor state of Gubere-Meteitei-Timboroa road connecting the larger Tinderet region with Uasin Gishu County. Speaking to the press, the residents led by the boda boda operators representative Paul Kirui said as operators, they have experienced difficulties while using the muddy road which is in a dire state and has affected their business. They have asked both the national and County governments to chip in and renovate the road to ease the burden.
Area MP Julius Melly together with a team of engineers led by engineer James Kung’u from the national government have already inspected the road. Kung’u said a contractor has already been contracted to construct the road and works are expected to commence soon, urging residents to be patient. Melly said the construction of the road which connects Nandi and Uasin Gishu Counties from Tinderet will benefit not residents of the respective Counties and people from other regions. The Ainamng’etuny bridge which was swept away by floods will also be reconstructed.
