Collins Omutere of Sambu Central primary school in Webuye East Constituency is the top pupil in Bungoma County in the 2019 KCPE after garnering 432 marks.
Speaking to West Media, the head teacher of the school Mr. John Temba expressed his delight after his school produced the best pupil in the County. He said that this year’s candidates performed well as compared to last year, adding that unity and good relations between teachers, parents and pupils contributed a lot to the good performance.
“This year we have had good results as our first pupil got 432 marks, 56 pupils got above 300 marks. We’ve had a mean score of 377 as compared to last year where we had 370 so we have improved with about 7 points which is a plus,” stated Mr. Temba.
“These results have ben ahieved due to the good relationship between teachers, parents and children. Our teachers work tirelessly to ensure that they get the best, parents have been so supportive and our pupils are so disciplined,” he added.
Collins said that it was not easy as he used to work extra hard, he thanked his teachers, parents and his fellow candidates for giving him support throughout his studies.
He either revealed that his closeness to teachers every time by asking them questions and wanting to know ways of solving them made him perform well.
He urged all pupils who will be joining class eight next year to be disciplined and work hard to succeed. “I would like to thank God for enabling me get these marks; I appreciate my teachers for standing with me and my parents for supporting me in all ways. It has not been that easy since I used to wake up very early and worked hard,” explained Omutere.
