Residents of Murram village in Chomisia area in Kombe location, Nandi County have been hit by a double tragedy following the murder of a 15-year-old girl who was raped and killed by an unknown assailant at their home last night. The deceased, a pupil at Chomisia primary school was found lying motionless in the house kitchen, where she normally sleeps, and her torn inner pant besides her.
Nandi Central police boss Mr. Stephen Obara confirmed the murder, recounting that her mother had gone out of the house to relieve herself, and she noticed the lights were on the kitchen and when she called out for her daughter there was no response, instead, a man came out of the kitchen and fled. Obara said family members tried to chase the perpetrator immediately after but they couldn’t nab him.
This is the second incident in Kombe location in a year after a 4-year-old girl was also defiled and killed by unknown people. The incident has been condemned by women leaders in Nandi led by the former Nandi Women representative Zipporah Kering and female MCAs who called for a speedy investigation to bring the suspects to book. So far no arrests have been made and the police have launched the investigations. The body was moved to Kapsabet Referral Hospital Mortuary.
