Trans Nzoia and Bungoma Counties are among the devolved units on the spot over rising cases of the Coronavirus. Kenya is moving towards a second Covid-19 infections wave, according to Health CS Mutahi Kagwe, owing to different factors including the failure of Kenyans to observe the infection prevention directives. As a result, some Counties have recorded steadily increasing positive cases in the last few weeks, they incense, Nairobi, Mombasa-which had recorded a slump in the past months-Kilifi, Kisumu, Bungoma, Trans Nzoia, Turkana, Kisii and Nakuru.
By Sunday evening, Bungoma County had 237 confirmed cases and Trans Nzoia 428 cases, with 8 and 61 new cases recorded respectively. CS Kagwe has urged the governments in the Counties with increased cases to ensure all health workers have Personal Protective Equipment, and to ensure that in social gatherings social distancing is kept.
However, he pointed out that it’s up to Kenyans, individually, to keep the directives, “I’m asking enforcement agencies to ensure that we enforce the current containment measures keeping in mind that the responsibility for containment of the virus as we said many times before lies with the individual.”
