The Trans Nzoia County Census Committee has been set in place ahead of the Augsut census. The Trans Nzoia County Commissioner Samson Ojwang sais the team is already formed, and it will spearhead preparations for the whole exercise which he said will take place from 24th Augst to 31st. In January, Treasury CS Henry Rotich assured the country that this year’s process will be digitized, this year’s round being the eighth census.
The Kenya National Bureau of Statistics already did the mapping process, which will be vital in creating enumeration areas countrywide, which will be sued by KNBS enumeration officials. Recruitment for the people who will take part in the exercise is set to start this month, and fake job adverts may be doing the rounds. The Trans Nzoia County Commissioner has urged residents to be wary of fake job adverts concerning the census, saying that Kenyans will be notified about the recruitment process, “No one should be lied to by any person that recruitment is being done for those who will oversee the census,” he said.
The County Commissioner noted that the census is vital because it allows for development planning and special planning to serve Kenyans. The census will definitely be used by the government to properly map out the implementation of the Big Four agenda, and leaders had already urged residents to turn up and be counted. Leaders have said that the count will eventually determine the funds’ allocations to different Counties and regions.
