Trans Nzoia Deputy Governor Stanley Tarus Kenei has defended the County’s development track, following criticisms by the County Senator Michael Mbito, citing several dispensaries that have been constructed by the County government. Speaking during a funeral at Saboti, Senator Micheal Mbito said that he has personally presented information on graft in Trans Nzoia to EACC, and promised residents that this time, action will be taken. He criticized the manner into which some projects initiated during Governor Patrick Khaemba’s first term had stalled including the County referral hospital.
He said the Governor had been hiding behind his CECs, who’ve been looting County money, to use in his personal projects and appealed to residents to stay calm and wait for action to be taken. He said the Deputy Governor that he should be ready to take over the seat when Governor Khaemba will be arrested as it happened in Kiambu County.
However, Kenei has urged leaders including Senator Mbito to stop the political rhetoric in funerals and instead focus on telling residents the truth. He said the County got a clean bill of health from the auditor general last year and that Governor Khaemba explained to the Senate all the queries that had been raised concerning corruption allegations. “I want Senator Mbito to present his case to relevant authorities and stop the stories at funerals because they won’t help him,” said the Deputy Governor.
