The county Government of Trans Nzoia has paid 800 ECDE teachers their four months salary arrears which they had not been paid since employment.
While announcing the payment, the county executive committee member for Education Isaac Kogo said all the 800 ECDE teachers who were employed by the county Government early this year have been paid their salaries in full.
Kogo said there had been delays in payments of the teachers because the county Government was tackling issues concerning authentication of names and how to place them in correct register for smooth flow of payment.

He pointed out that the teachers now have a duty to give the best to the children since all issues concerning their welfare had been tackled.
He called upon parents not to be deceived again into paying such teachers their money as the county government had taken the initiative and was now paying teachers the money which the parents were paying.
The CEC called for co-operation between parents and teachers in seeing that the education of their children is well facilitated and appealed to parents to provide food for their children saying the the government has not provided food for the children.
He said that the county Government employed two teachers for every public school within the county and revealed that plans were underway in employing some more teachers to cater for the rising population.
“We plan to employ some more additional teachers to help check the rising population of children in the ECDE centers”, said Kogo.
He faulted the manner in which politicians politicized the whole issue of nonpayment of salaries to teachers and appealed for soberness when handling issues not only the teachers but any progress the county Government has done.
The delay by the county government in paying teachers had faced scathing attacks from politicians including senator Henry Ole Ndiema, Kiminini Mp Dr.Chris Wamalwa, and the county member of parliament Janet Nangabo who questioned the manner into which it was handling the plights of unpaid teachers’ salaries.
The politicians had asked the county Government to pay teachers their salaries in full and avoid being slow in tackling issues relating to their salaries.
