Trans Nzoia education bursaries held by Chase bank
Trans Nzoia county’s money set aside for bursaries in education are among the money that was held by chase bank following the Government’s decision to put the bank under receivership.
Speaking in Kitale, Kaplamai Ward MCA Sam Buyela Mutuli said the county had some money in the bank and the decision by the government to put the bank under receivership was a surprise to the administration of the county as the news was not expected.
He called upon the students who had been awarded bursaries for education from the county Administration to remain patient as the matter is being addressed by Trans Nzoia County governor Patrick Khaemba and the Chief Committee Member for Finance Ken Simiyu and it will be finalized in the next one and a half weeks.
“I call upon all the students who applied for education Bursaries form the county to be patient for the next one and a half weeks as what happened at Chase bank was not our wish”, said Mutuli.
The MCA disclosed that the two, Governor Khaemba and Finance CEC Simiyu have approached the controller of Budgets ministry asking for Ksh. 50 million so that the problem is solved.
He appealed to parents to take care of their children during this long vacation and give them some parental Guidance so that they instill discipline in their children.
He also condemned the rampant University unrest in the country giving an example to the University of Nairobi, Laikipia Campus, Masinde Muliro and Kibabii University saying the strikes are as a result of indiscipline students who are not being given correct information and guidelines by their parents.
“Some of these students unrest in universities are as a result of non commitment of parents to offer parental guidance to their children leading to moral decay amongst the youth of this country”, said Mutuli.
