As a way of increasing food production and fighting hunger amongst residents, Trans Nzoia County maize farmers have been called upon to make early preparation of land and plantation of crops for better produce.
Speaking to West FM, former Nabiswa Member of County Assembly (MCA) Joel Wekesa Milimo urged farmers to make better timing of seasons and plant their crops early enough in order to increase food production. Milimo promised to give subsidized fertilizers to farmers through ward funds.
“We had a responsibility during our time to make early savings through ward specific fund project in our County Assembly and this enabled us to provide timely fertilizers to farmers, I therefore promise to revive that project if you consider me on the ballot on 9th August.” Appealed Milimo
Milimo further promised to have farmers’ land tested to identify acidic levels in order to apply required fertilizer for better produce. He said this in reference to the previous projects he did as an MCA where he provided farmers with Mavuno fertilizers that increased food production by neutralizing soil acidic levels.
