A section of Ford Kenya leaders in Trans Nzoia Couty have fulfilled a
promise to provide iron sheets for the construction of houses for two
widows of the late party chairman for Kapomboi ward Japheth Masinde.
Saboti parliamentary hopeful William Nangulu, Keiyo ward MCA Emmanuel Waswa and his Kapomboi counterpart Ben Mlipuko acquired 70 iron sheets for construction of the houses at Kobos village.
Mlipuko, who oversaw the delivery of the iron sheets, said a new
crop of leadership within the party is committed to ensuring they do
away with a past culture where party heroes’ were neglected. My presence today is a clear indication that we want to have a fresh start within the party where Ford Kenya ambassadors are honoured. It’s a shame that Mzee died a poor man yet he did a lot for the party,” he said.
Waswa who has set eyes on the Kwanza parliamentary seat said the
party should brace itself for a leadership overhaul within the region
through elections to become vibrant again, dismissing calls for
consensus.
Ford Kenya party leadership top brass has been calling for consensus
of its leaders within the County as a way of trying to save the party
from further disintegration that is threatening the party in the
county
Among the leaders who have been approached for consensus are Kwanza MP Ferdinand Wanyonyi and his Saboti constituency hopeful William Sakari Nangulu, whom the leadership have urged to exercise calm and tolerance among the supporters. They are all competitors for the chairmanship of the party within the County.
“Change is coming and it can’t be wished away. We are all waiting for
the county level election for the delegates to elect a fresh team
which will steer the party to political stardom,” he said.
Mr. Masinde who is among founders of the Lion party was laid to rest
on Saturday died a poor man despite his tireless efforts to market the
lion party despite the onset of new political parties within the
region.
Mr. Brian Eyase who is eyeing the position of the Ford Kenya National Youth League Chairperson challenged youthful members within the party to be aggressive in marketing its ideologies like its founders. “In our lifetime, our youthful generation should endeavour to participate in processes that are bigger than our personal interests, the way Mzee Masinde indefatigably defended Ford Kenya since 1992” said Mr.Eyase.
