The County government of Trans Nzoia has been urged to find a lasting solution to the endless feuds over ownership of pieces of land recently witnessed at Kwanza Township. This follows a recent incident where a local politician was accused of
demolishing structures erected on a plot adjacent to his despite a court injunction barring him from accessing the land.
The owner of the affected plot, Mr. Francis Naligu, said the matter has to be addressed urgently since his neighbour has barred him from
carrying out development plans regardless of the court injunction. “My leasehold on this plot expires on 2091 yet I am unable to develop
it owing to the interference by the politician who has defied a court order barring him from interference,” said Mr. Lugala.
Kitale Senior Resident Magistrate Duncan Mtai had in his orders restrained the respondents and their agents from trespassing,
entering, working or fencing pending determination of the matter. “We call on the law enforcement agencies to accord us security since the
orders which were issued by the court have been ignored. We will also seek redress from the court,” said Mr. Albert Kanyange.
The residents also want the County enforcement officers to follow due process in ensuring every developer has met the conditions of
stipulated by the physical planning department. “The enforcement officers in this County are operating in a weird manner. They have gone as far as allocating part of the land belonging to Friends School Kwanza to individuals,” said Edward Ayuya.
