The Trans Nzoia County assembly was officially opened by Governor Patrick Khaemba on Tuesday, who while giving his address called on MCAs to consider debating bills that are of great importance to the locals of the County and desist from opposing some development
projects initiated by the County administration.
He expressed his dissatisfaction with one MCA who he said has been opposing the County government’s development projects by moving to
several offices including the World Bank to spread messages of pilferage of money allocated to the County. “I am very astonished by one MCA who has moved to several government offices as well as our financial partners to spread lies and propaganda concerning the money allocated to this County, this is barbaric, unpalatable and need to be criticized by the leadership of this assembly,” said the infuriated Khaemba.
On health sector the Governor said he has stopped further construction of health facilities until the ones initiated are complete and given
priority in matters health stating that so far drugs worth Kshs 155 million have been delivered, which will in turn help a long way in
curbing some serious problems that have bedeviled the health sector.
The Governor also blamed the manner into which tax collection has been conducted, stating that some money hasn’t been collected properly, and has instead landed in the pockets of individuals.
He disclosed that the current system of revenue collection has failed and therefore ordered the department of finance to terminate
the services of the current system and get another system that is dynamic, efficient and effective.
The County chief also appealed to the residents to put more effort into the development of agriculture as well as invest in other agricultural
activities as opposed to maize farming only as this will help them get maximum output of their produce and earn income.
