Trans Nzoia County Governor Patrick Khaemba was sworn in at a colorful ceremony held at Kitale show ground. The ceremony was presided over by Judge Abida Aroni together with Kitale magistrate Wandera Wasike.
Governor Khaemba took the oath of office together with his deputy Stanley Kenei Tarus, and he promised to complete all projects he has initiated within the County including finishing the construction of a referral hospital, construction of a bus stage as well as improving the roads in the County.
He warned Trans Nzoia County officials who didn’t perform well during his first term as per the expectations, saying he will deal firmly with any officials who will be found engaging in corrupt activities.
The Trans Nzoia Governor, however, appealed to the national government to increase the allocation of funds to the County, “I call upon the national government to increase the allocation of money meant for the development in the Counties, especially for Trans Nzoia County. What we’ve been receiving so far isn’t enough,” said Khaemba.
On his part, Ford Kenya party leader and Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula thanked Trans Nzoia residents for electing Governor Khaemba for a second term in office.
He further urged Chief Justice David Maraga to make sure that the petition filed by the opposition coalition NASA disputing presidential results is handled seriously, saying that a ruling should be given which satisfies all involved parties.
Other leaders present included MPs elect Joshua Kuttuny of Cherangany, Ferdinand Wanyonyi of Kwanza, Saboti’s Caleb Amisi, Kiminini’s Dr. Chris Wamalwa, Tongaren’s Eseli Simiyu, Enoch Kibunguchy of Likuyani and Bungoma County woman representative Catherine Wambilianga.
